The Family Focus Empowerment Program.

Our purpose is to serve families of children ages 3 to 22 who have Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs). The services offered are modeled after the Early Start Family Resource Centers and encompass the belief that quality early interventions are best practice. There are approximately 47,000 children with developmental disabilities in the San Fernando, Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys. The Family Focus Empowerment Program offers assistance and support to these children and their families in the following ways:

1. Assisting to ensure a smooth transition from pre-school to kindergarten, elementary school to middle school, middle school to high school and high school to post-secondary activities.
2. Providing Individual and group training on Individual Education Program (IEP) and Individual Program Plan (IPP).
3. Conducting outreach, empowerment training, and educational workshops.
4. Offering a resource library of books, videos and audio tapes.
5. Providing support groups for English and Spanish-speaking families.
6. Conducting notebook training to assist families in keeping well-organized medical and educational records. This training is offered one-on-one or in groups.
7. Presenting workshops on the most effective ways to communicate with professionals and resolve disputes with school districts or agencies in the most positive manner possible.

Programs available at these locations:
         San Fernando Valley (CSUN)
         Santa Clarita Valley
         Antelope Valley
